Morning all,
It's been a long while since I've used DA (I have the latest Pro version) and I'm attempting to create a base map like the one Tim utilizes in his Weather Wise column "Forecastcenter". I've tried the planetary and the topography map included in DA and neither comes close to what is portrayed in the article. Does anyone have any suggestions? Tim?
Thank you,
Greg Higgins

Re: Colored terrain underlay used in Forecast Center maps
Greg, it seems to be a modified version of the planetary map that ships with v3.50a. I'm not sure if it was included in earlier versions but I don't seem to remember that it was. The Meteorology Lab map also appears to be superimposed on top of a texture map of some kind and then the colors are tweaked some.
I have a map project going that will create something similar but it's unfinished at this time.
Hope this helps,
Bob

It is the same as one of the default planetary maps but was processed in Photoshop to shift the contrasts around.
